The Integrated Bursary Program

Dear Community Member,

The Calgary Jewish community has instituted a new process for providing bursaries to families. It is called the Integrated Bursary Program (IBP). The IBP was created to make the process of applying for a bursary more dignified, anonymous, expeditious, and equitable. The IBS provides families the opportunity to apply for bursaries to a number of communal organizations in one step. Therefore, a family can obtain financial assistance to enroll their children in a Jewish day school, register for overnight camp, join the JCC and register for other communal programs at one time.

The Values of the Integrated Bursary:

Anonymity
The only individuals who will be aware of your application to the IBS are: the CJCC Executive Director, your counselor, and the senior accountant at the agencies where you are applying. Again, the community members making decisions will only have file numbers, not names. This information will be held in the strictest of confidence.

Dignity
You will only have to make one application. You can apply for a bursary to over a dozen communal programs at one time. We recognize that families do not wish to complete forms and request bursaries at various agencies.
We have centralized this process to make it more streamlined and dignified.

Equity
Each application will be judged on its own merits. The same standard will be applied with respect to each program. In the
previous system each institution managed their own bursary process and there were variations in how applications were
reviewed. Under the current system, there will be no variations as it is a single centralized process.

Application for Bursary for UJA Supported Programs

Basic Information
It is our policy that families needing a bursary be accommodated if at all possible. We are committed to the ideal that no member of the Jewish community should be denied a Jewish educational, social, or cultural experience due to an inability to pay full fees. Those families that do not have the financial resources to pay full fees will be considered for a bursary.
