Jewish Community Chaplain

Sari Shernofsky provides the following services to all members of the Calgary Jewish community:

• Chaplaincy services to Jewish patients in the hospital, including comfort and spiritual support:
• Exploring patient’s spiritual resources
• Helping patient access personal sources of meaning and strength
• Helping seniors and terminal patients conduct life reviews and come to terms with their lives
• Addressing end-of-life beliefs/concerns
• Offering spiritual/religious support, rituals, prayers
• Connecting with community spiritual resources
• Family support, including grief support

• Work with patients and families at end of life, including shiva support
• Work with families facing transition challenges, e.g., discharge to home, long-term care, hospice
• Visitation in nursing homes
• Home visits for shut-ins and other marginalized members of the community
• Outreach to unaffiliated members of the community
• Liaise with rabbis and JFSC
• Coordinate volunteer visitors program

These services are provided Free of Charge.
