Sukkot (Oct. 17-23), often referred to as the Feast of Tabernacles or Booths, is a Jewish holiday celebrating the harvest and commemorating the Israelites' wanderings in the desert during their exodus from Egypt. Observed from the 15th to the 21st of Tishrei, Sukkot involves building temporary outdoor structures called sukkahs, covered with branches, leaves, or bamboo, to symbolize the huts used by the Israelites. Families and communities gather in these sukkahs to share festive meals and rejoice with gratitude for the bountiful harvest. Another tradition is the waving of the Four Species: the lulav and etrog, symbolizing unity.
