HAZAK 55+ Presents
JEWISH ETHICAL WILLS
with Rabbi Osadchey
Wednesday, October 14th - 12noon-2:00pm
An ethical will is a document designed to pass ethical values from one generation to the next. While the origins of these ethical wills can be found in the Torah (a dying Jacob gathered his sons to offer them his blessing) they came into fashion in Medieval times when fathers and or aged teachers sought to compose in personal language their innermost feelings, aspirations, and moral guidance for their children. As such, they provide us with insights into Jewish values and practices to which we, our children and grandchildren should strive to achieve. We will examine several ethical wills and then challenge ourselves to write one for our children. Lunch will be served at 12 noon and costs $5 per person. RSVP to the Synagogue office at 403-255-8688 by October 12th. For more information, please contact Donna Caplan at 403-271-3066. Everyone is welcome.
