Join this virtual program: Laughter and Darkness: Humor and the Holocaust to learn about humour and the role it plays in grieving and trauma recovery.

Jeremy Dauber, one of the world’s experts on Jewish humor discusses its role during, and after, one of the darkest times in Jewish history. What role did humor play for the Jews who went through, and survived, the Nazi inferno? And what role can – and is appropriate for – Jewish comedy to have in addressing it in the decades to come? A searching, and respectful, lecture that allows us to think about some of the surprising ways we address trauma, grief, memory, and history.

The Holocaust and Human Rights: Remembrance and Education department of Calgary Jewish Federation is proud to partner with the Calgary Public Library for this virtual event.

Supported by the Balaban Family and Viewpoint Foundation Fund, the Krell Family, and donors to the Human Rights and Holocaust Education Fund at Calgary Public Library Foundation.
