Second Passover 5784

Second Passover, also known as Pesach Sheni, is a minor Jewish holiday observed on the 14th day of the Hebrew month of Iyar, exactly one month after Passover (Pesach). Its origin stems from the biblical story in the Book of Numbers when some Israelites were unable to partake in the Passover offering due to ritual impurity or other circumstances. Moses instituted Second Passover as a makeup opportunity for those who missed the initial celebration.

While not as widely observed as the first Passover, some Jewish communities mark this day by eating matzah and reflecting on the themes of redemption and second chances.
