Nearly 80 years have passed since Samuel Danziger was shot in a displaced persons camp in Stuttgart, Germany – one year following his liberation from Auschwitz. A few days earlier, Samuel had been reunited with his wife Regina, daughter, and son, five-year-old Morris Dancyger, all of whom had miraculously survived Auschwitz as well. The Surviving Remnant follows Howard Dancyger's search for answers about his grandfather Samuel’s shooting. With historian Josefine, Howard uncovers hidden files, deep antisemitism, and the identity of the shooter, whose name was deliberately kept secret for decades.
