JFSC is proud to announce the start of this initiative supported by the City of Calgary, to work with seniors in our community who are struggling with mental health and addiction. The team is comprised of a social worker and LPN who will be working in an outreach capacity. This initiative will bridge the gap for seniors accessing mental health or addiction services and will advocate on the needs and specialized resources required to best support this population. The Seniors Mental Health and Addiction Response Team aims to reduce barriers and make services inclusive for all so that every senior is able to get the help they need. We are open for new referrals, please call our main line at 403-287-3510 for information.
In-Home Memory Care Now Accepting New Referrals
JFSC is excited to announce the launch of this program designed for individuals diagnosed with memory loss, dementia, or Alzheimer's. An in-home service will be offered where staff engage with the client to deliver brain boosting activities that support them with their diagnosis, while also providing respite opportunities for the caregiver to engage in self-care during what is otherwise a very isolating and difficult time. JFSC is working with the Alzheimer Society of Calgary to ensure that our In-Home Memory Care staff are equipped with dementia-specific training and tools to deliver quality, person-centered care to our clients in their homes. Please contact JFSC at 403-287-3510 for further information regarding program description and referral information.

Rest Assured, Part of Judaism @ Home Series presented by the Calgary JLI
Tuesday, July 7
8:00 PM | Zoom
Shabbat is one of Judaism’s greatest gifts. In a society that prizes multitasking and prioritizes urgencies, Shabbat offers a welcome respite from the noise to ponder what is truly important. However, when it comes to the nitty gritty of Shabbat’s dos and don’ts, many find themselves perplexed by their logic and seeming pettiness. This lesson unveils the wisdom and neat construct inherent in the laws of Shabbat, and translates its model into practical guidelines for modern observance, infused with soul and spirituality.

Help Israel's Only National Emergency Response Organization
Continue Protecting the People of Israel
Since the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak in Israel, Magen David Adom (MDA) has been working around the clock to contain this deadly virus and to keep Israel safe. During this crisis, MDA has answered as many as 110,000 emergency calls in a single day, compared to an average 5,000 calls in normal times. MDA first responders have been working tirelessly 24/7, operating MDA's emergency call centres as well as testing stations throughout the country, and continuing to answer distress calls as they always do. As a result, MDA's resources are now at an alarming low, and we need you now more than ever to give generously, so that Israel's only National Emergency Response Organization may continue protecting the people of Israel. MDA is not a government organization and as a result, it relies heavily on funding from friends across the world to continue operating. Please give generously and share this message with your friends and family. Click here for more information
