Calgary Jewish Federation is excited to host a Krav Maga Program

 

Led by a certified Israeli instructor along with a Senior Jewish Educator who will be running some interesting Israel programs. Thanks to the Jewish Agency for Israel along with Israeli Ministry of Diaspora Affairs, there is no cost to our community. This program is also supported through Jewish Federations of Canada-United Israel Appeal, The Department for Diaspora Affairs of The World Zionist Organization and the Canadian Zionist Federation.

ABOUT THE KRAV MAGA INSTRUCTOR

Niv Goffman, 27, was born on Kibbutz Kfar Szold in the Upper Galilee. At the age of 11, due to an ADHD (attention deficit hyper active disorder), his parents sent him to an Israeli Combat class where he learned Krav Maga and MMA. Since then, he has been Israel's national champion three times and the runner up three other times. Niv has a black belt in Israeli Combat and a brown belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. He has extensive experience as a Krav Maga instructor for children, teens and adults.  He did his army service in Duvdevan, which is an elite combat unit of the Israel Defense Forces. Niv now works as a senior Krav Maga instructor. He is presently living in Canada, where he has been involved in opening a Krav Maga centre in Toronto.

ABOUT THE SENIOR JEWISH EDUCATOR

Omer Lachman has many interesting topics to share. He taught at the Hebrew Reali High School, Haifa, Israel where he worked with grades 10 and 11 with an emphasis on the Zionist Movement, the Holocaust, the

establishment of the State of Israel and Israeli society in its first two decades. As well, he was the Coordinator between the Reali High School and the Center for Humanistic Education in the Ghetto Fighters’ House Museum. Some of the sessions he will be doing in Calgary include

  • How the Palmach Intended to Trick the Germans
  • The First Meaningful Aliyah
  • An Acquaintance with Israel’s Geography using the story of David Ben-Gurion
