Volunteer

Make a meaningful difference by volunteering your time to support seniors, uplift isolated individuals, or help strengthen our Jewish community.  Whether it’s a smile, a shared language, or a commitment to community, your presence can truly change a life.

Visiting Isolated Seniors

There are a few seniors in nursing homes who would really appreciate a visit from a friendly visitor. If you are able to visit weekly -- or even twice a month -- for an hour or two, it would mean so much to an elderly person. All you need is a smile and to be a good listener. Training and support are provided.

United Jewish Appeal (UJA) Canvassers

The United Jewish Appeal Campaign is vital in ensuring the continuity of the Jewish community. It funds Jewish day schools, summer camps, services to seniors, resettlement of immigrants, support for low-income people, advocacy on behalf of the Jewish community, the mikvah, kashrut, and many other programs and services in Calgary, across Canada, in Israel, and around the world. Donating your time to help us raise the funds that fuel our wonderful Jewish community is a mitzvah of the highest order!

Russian-Speaking Visitors

Are you able to visit Russian-speaking patients in the hospital? These patients are not able to speak much English and are experiencing a crisis in their lives. The comfort of someone speaking their own language would mean a lot to them. The volunteer would respond occasionally to requests for visits, maybe 6 times a year. There are also a few Russian-speaking residents in nursing homes who would really appreciate a visit from a friendly visitor. If you are able to visit weekly -- or even twice a month -- for an hour or two, it would mean so much to these elderly people. Training and support are provided.
